{"id":19916,"date":"2014-11-03T17:01:22","date_gmt":"2014-11-03T16:01:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.horecatrends.com\/?p=19916"},"modified":"2014-11-03T17:07:32","modified_gmt":"2014-11-03T16:07:32","slug":"10-times-pizza-inspiration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.horecatrends.com\/en\/10-times-pizza-inspiration\/","title":{"rendered":"10 times pizza inspiration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Inspired by the pizza chain <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dominos.nl\/nl\" target=\"_blank\">Domino&#8217;s Pizza<\/a> that recently started selling pizza\u2019s with a sausage in the edge of the pizza and sauerkraut as an ingredient and the success of pizza rolls and bagels, we\u2019ve made a top 10 pizza inspiration varieties which we as guest really love to eat.<\/p>\n<h3>Pizza with fresh truffle<\/h3>\n<p>Recently I ate a fresh truffle pizza at a great lunch\/brunch spot on Sunday in the Marais, Paris. At <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ledomedumarais.fr\" target=\"_blank\">Le Dome du Marais<\/a> they serve a \u2018Pizza a la Truffe Noir, fontina &amp; frisee blanche\u2019 (Pizza with black truffle, fontina cheese and frisee salad).<\/p>\n<h3>Pizza with fresh tuna<\/h3>\n<p>Although more a flatbread or our flammkuchen variety, we ate a great flatbread with fresh tuna with a hint of shiso and truffle oil in Las Vegas. The perfect combination between Japan and Italia. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bellagio.com\/restaurants\/yellowtail.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Yellowtail Japanese Restaurant &amp; Lounge<\/a> at the Bellagio hotel serves this great pizza. Friends already told us in advance; after having eaten one, you will order another one!<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile I understood that restaurant <a href=\"\u00a0http:\/\/restaurantlegarage.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/pdf\/MENU_DINER_SEPTEMBER_2014nl.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Le Garage in Amsterdam<\/a> serves a similar pizza! We will definitively come to taste this version as well!<\/p>\n<h3>Breakfast pizza<\/h3>\n<p>We already wrote about it in 2010, a branch of Domino&#8217;s pizza in Ohio started to serve a breakfast pizza. Last summer we had breakfast pizzas at various locations in America. The breakfast flatbread at the &#8216;Butler-style&#8217; Sunday brunch in restaurant <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wynnlasvegas.com\/Restaurants\/CasualDining\/LaCave\" target=\"_blank\">La Cave<\/a> at The Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas was truly delicious, a rectangular piece of flatbread with a chef&#8217;s selection of ham and eggs. In the Netherlands we know that restaurant <a href=\"http:\/\/www.restaurantcityhall.nl\/eten-en-drinken\/ontbijt-e-foccacia-e-bruschetta.html\" target=\"_blank\">City Hall<\/a> in Leiden serves a breakfast pizza with 3 eggs and bacon as well.<\/p>\n<h3>The Tandoori Spice Pizza<\/h3>\n<p>In the most recent newsletter of <a href=\"http:\/\/thefoodpeople.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\">The Food People<\/a> we read that pizza chain <a href=\"http:\/\/www.papajohns.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\">Papa John&#8217;s<\/a> in England did bring a new pizza on the market in collaboration with producer Patak\u2019s; The Spice Tandoori Pizza. The pizza is topped with authentic Indian-inspired ingredients such as Phal sauce, double Tandoori Chicken, green peppers, red onion, tomatoes and mint raita.<\/p>\n<h3>Deep dish pizza from Chicago<\/h3>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horecatrends.com\/en\/deep-dish-pizza-giordanos\/\" target=\"_blank\">Deep Dish pizza<\/a> is a mighty and truly a pizza for big eaters! I ate it by Giordano&#8217;s in Chicago, hometown of the deep dish pizza. A smaller version would likely be better for the Dutch market, while the bigger one can be advertised as a \u2018pizza to share\u2019.<\/p>\n<h3>Flatbread or the European version; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horecatrends.com\/en\/flammkuchen-available-in-the-netherlands\/\" target=\"_blank\">flammkuchen<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>Since 2013 more and more flatbreads, or the German variant \u2018flammkuchen\u2019, are served in the Netherlands. This lighter version of a pizza is often used in America as \u2018skinny pizza\u2019. For example, The Cheesecake Factory has a separate menu, \u2018<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecheesecakefactory.com\/menu\/skinnylicious\/\" target=\"_blank\">skinnylicious<\/a>\u2019 with some skinny flatbreads for those who want to eat less calories.<\/p>\n<h3>Eat healthy, pizza &#8211; with seaweed<\/h3>\n<p>We wrote about it in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horecatrends.com\/en\/healthy-pizza-with-seaweed\/\" target=\"_blank\">December 2013<\/a>; Healthy pizza has toppings like mozzarella, cheddar cheese, cherry tomatoes, red pepper and garlic powder. The company made the pizza healthier with a secret ingredient, they added seaweed, a healthy alternative to salt. An average frozen pizza contains 300 calories and 13 grams of fat, the pizza by &#8216;Eat Healthy&#8217; contains 172 calories and 5.3 grams of fat. It is introduced in England and Wales.<\/p>\n<h3>Pizza on a stick and in a cone<\/h3>\n<p>The Italian company Hasta La Pizza has introduced the \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.horecatrends.com\/en\/pizza-like-ice-cream-on-a-stick\/\" target=\"_blank\">pizza on a stick<\/a>\u2019 at the Anuga fair in Cologne in the end of 2013. The \u2018pizza on a stick\u2019 is designed for the on-the-go market. Hasta la Pizza is available in the flavours Margherita, ham and salami and comes in packs of 60 grams. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.konopizza.it\/eng\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kono pizza<\/a> sells its pizza already several years in the form of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horecatrends.com\/en\/pizza-cone\/\" target=\"_blank\">cone<\/a>. They are sold in 16 countries, but not in the Netherlands yet, although they\u2019re sold on Aruba.<\/p>\n<h3>Pizza gourmet<\/h3>\n<p>We wrote about it in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.horecatrends.com\/en\/gourmet-with-pizza\" target=\"_blank\"> May 2013<\/a>; Gourmet Pizza. The Italian \u2018<a href=\"http:\/\/www.deitaliaansecateraar.nl\" target=\"_blank\">Pizzafestijn<\/a>\u2019 Catering serves a pizza-gourmet besides Italian snacks and a live cooking buffet with pizza appetizers. With the pizza-gourmet guests can cover small fresh pizza bases with pizza sauce and ingredients of choice. These mini pizzas are baked in a small pizza oven.<\/p>\n<h3>Bugs on the pizza<\/h3>\n<p>We can now start to uses insects on pizzas as the insects are also on the shelves at the supermarket in the Netherlands ((Supermarket Jumbo in Groningen).
