Dutch Brave Food: that is what Katy Elst and Ron Okhuijsen, after more than 25 years of experience as restaurant entrepreneurs, want to put on the map at Blue Bar1 in Utrecht. We spotted ‘Taste the TV’ in Japan (with video) and this Monday, January 10, Beyond Fried Chicken debuts nationwide at KFC®.

Geoffrey is a cute 10-pound delivery vehicle/robot developed by Ignacio Tartavull and Gellert Mattyus of Tiny Mile. And it’s pushed of the streets of Toronto. Great idea for uniform shoes, the Zen Running Club shoes, if you want your restaurant or hotel to be as sustainable as possible. They are 100% vegan and plant-based.

A photo of food taken by writer Nicholas Gill in a famous BBQ joint in Brooklyn, NYC, will be auctioned as an NFT. And global lifestyle icon Martha Stewart will open her first-ever restaurant, The Bedford by Martha Stewart at Paris Las Vegas in Spring 2022.

With this week links to articles about the most spectacular off-menu dish at the rule-breaking Japanese restaurant Shuko in New York and to the ‘Cuisine Solaire’ by restaurant Le Présage in Marseille. It’s Europe’s first solar-powered restaurant.

In London you can enjoy cocktails and high tea’s at a disused train station, check out the great 1940s themed high tea video at Cahoots Underground in the article. Also opened in London: a new immersive cocktail experience, Mr. Tipsy’s Down The Hatch! With a lot of OTT-ness!

French food tech start-up Gourmey is working on lab-grown foie gras that could allow restaurants to continue to serve the highly-prized delicacy in an ethical way. Great news for foie gras lovers, it looks like it and the chef who tried it says it also tasted the same.

The new pizzeria Pazzi in Paris is staffed entirely by robots, from order-taking to prepping the dough to putting the pizzas in boxes. Check out the video, as guests you can follow your pizza being made!

We love the idea behind the ‘random acts of kindness’, as does Domino’s Pizza in the USA, they started their ‘Surprise Frees’ Promotion. Until November 21, 2021, they are surprising randomly selected fans with free menu items.

And a link to an article about the new ‘Taco Bell Defy’. The 3,000 square-foot restaurant concept located in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, utilizes a two-story model for “the frictionless future of Taco Bell”.

Pop-up boutique and restaurant ‘Dior at Alto’ in Selfridges London

This summer, Selfridges London is showcasing the Dioriviera capsule in a pop-up boutique with a seaside atmosphere at their iconic rooftop restaurant, Alto by San Carlo. The pop-up is named Dior at Alto and the space celebrates the art of living dear to the House and is adorned with toile de Jouy, an emblem revisited by Maria Grazia Chiuri in blue, chartreuse or raspberry.

We always love collaborations and this is another example and if you’re travelling to London this summer, another great restaurant to visit with delicious dishes on the menu. Already open and it will remain open till September 30th 2021. Check out where you can make a reservation further in the article. And as inspiration for restaurants and hotels, why not collaborate with local designers to create a pop-up?

The traditional osteria Ave Mario is London’s new place to pizza, cocktails, and good times. This 7,000 square feet of Italian heaven by the Big Mamma Group will open on the 25th of June by an enthusiastic bunch of 120 Italians.

We first came across the Big Mamma Group in Paris, we even wrote about their enthusiastic use of Instagram Stories in 2017, the guys working at their restaurants we’re really Instagrammable. The Group now has 2 restaurants (soon 3 with Ave Mario) in London, Gloria and Circolo Popolare. In Paris they have 7 restaurants, 1 bar and 1 Food Market. They also have restaurants in Lille (Osteria tradizionale Bellazza), Lyon (Cucina popolare Carmelo) and Madrid (Trattoria & Terrazza Bel Mondo). This is a great restaurant chain to visit if you’re in the neighbourhood!

Within almost 4 weeks it’s going to be a special edition of Valentine’s Day, a day to celebrate love and embrace those close to you. Well it’s going to be though this year to embrace those friends and loved ones, not part of your household. How does the hospitality industry deal with all the restrictions? Well the most important fact is that most restaurants give their guests the opportunity to celebrate it on Friday 12, Saturday 13 and Sunday the 14th of February. We found some great Valentine’s Day inspiration, like classic drive-ins, with carhop service at White Castle, a TLC Valentine’s Box by 2 Dutch chefs highly rated by Michelin and the Guilty Pleasures box by restaurant Hemingway in hotel De Draak (the Dragon) in Bergen op Zoom.

A detour which everyone loves to make. The Michelin star drive thru at the stadium of soccer club Excelsior, in Rotterdam, executed by four Michelin starred chefs. A take-away meal has never been as delicious as this.

After a collaboration in the past, the culinary stars of Rotterdam are gathering again to collaborate. Lovers of high-quality food can enjoy meals at home from restaurant Parkheuvel, restaurant Fred, restaurant Joelia and restaurant Perceel, with in total 6 Michelin stars combined. We would go for the dishes: ‘Bouillabaise | Tomato | Vadouvan’ of restaurant Perceel, the ‘Ravioli of the Bresse Chicken’ of restaurant Parkheuvel and the ‘Pannactta | Pineapple | Star anise’ of restaurant Fred. You only have to order the food and collect it by driving through the drive thru. Taste the art of 4 Michelin starred chefs in one meal!

On Wednesday 24 June, Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam opened ‘The Grand Beach’ in its historic courtyard. A beach and terrace inspired by the French Riviera where guests enjoy a cold glass of rosé or a fresh cocktail and French dishes and snacks in a summery atmosphere. Until September 13th, the courtyard will be transformed into a real sandy beach with various seating areas – a meter and a half away from each other, of course -, a bar and with a regular DJ providing summery background music. The opening of The Grand Beach coincides with La Fête de la Musique, during which all Sofitel Hotels around the world celebrate summer in French style.
