INK Hotel becomes PINK Hotel again | Theme: ‘Ten Years of Reflection’

INK Hotel Amsterdam is turning pink for the tenth time during Pride Amsterdam. This anniversary edition, titled ‘Ten Years of Reflection’, looks back on a decade of celebrating diversity and inclusion. During Pride Week 2025, the celebratory INK Hotel Amsterdam – part of the MGallery Collection – will once again be fully transformed in pink. Since 2015, diversity and inclusion have been at the heart of the hotel’s identity.

On Thursday, July 24, INK Hotel will once again transform into the PINK Hotel, marking the official kickoff of Pride Amsterdam. Everyone is welcome at the annual opening party to celebrate diversity and inclusion together. This year’s theme, Ten Years of Reflection, offers both a symbolic retrospective and a hopeful look ahead. From July 24 through August 3, 2025, the PINK Hotel will host a special Pride program filled with various activities – also open to those not staying at the hotel. More details can be found on their website – link in the title.

Distillers Hotel brings new life to historic Schiedam distillery

In the former Dirkzwager distillery, a national monument from 1861 located on the corner of Groenweegje and Noordvest in the Dutch city Schiedam, the Distillers Hotel will open in 2026: a boutique hotel with 31 rooms, coffee bar STOOM, and restaurant STOOK. The 19th-century distillery is deeply rooted in Schiedam’s genever history. After more than 150 years of distilling, the impressive building is now preparing for a second life. Once again, spirit is being breathed into this historic part of Schiedam.

The arrival of the Distillers Hotel marks a new phase in the development of the Dutch Distillers District. The former industrial site surrounding the distillery is being redeveloped into a mixed-use urban neighborhood, with space for creativity, greenery, and community. Thanks to its central location and striking appearance, the hotel is set to become a key landmark in this dynamic area. The opening of the Distillers Hotel is scheduled for 2026. Until then, careful work is underway to create a unique place where Schiedam’s rich history is brought to life in the present.

Frittenwerk opened their first store in Münich | Guests could win a Black Card

Friday June 20 (bridge day), Frittenwerk opened their first Frittenwerk in Münich! It is the second Frittenwerk in the Bavaria region and the 45th in Germany. At the entrance to the Pasing Arcaden shopping centre with a view of the Pasing Promenade, they’re making it really nice in the lovingly furnished dining room and on an expansive sun terrace. With lots of greenery and even more wood, their new Frittenwerk is an oasis for shopping queens or a destination for street food lovers with acute fritten ‘chips’ deficit syndrome (FDS). People who signed up for their newsletter on site during the opening week, have the chance to win the first and so far only Frittenwerk Black Card: one year of free food and drink at Frittenwerk.

KYU ignites NYC lunch scene with new to-go concept

KYU NYC, a full-service restaurant known for its signature wood-fired flavors, is aiming to shake up the New York City lunch scene with the launch of KYU Grab & Go.

Here’s an interesting idea: opening a walk-up window at your upscale restaurant to serve sandwich-style versions of your most popular dishes—alongside desserts and custom-crafted drinks. That’s exactly what KYU has done. With pricing designed to appeal to the lunch crowd, KYU Grab & Go brings a more accessible twist to the restaurant’s elevated menu. Want to see more? Buchette del Vino on Times Square | ‘Florentine Wine Window’

Recently opened on Times Square (Broadway between 43rd & 44th Street) in NYC: Buchette del Vino, the city’s first ‘Florentine Wine Window’, created by the team behind The Lambs Club. The concept is inspired by the 16th-century wine windows that were recently brought back into the spotlight by Stanley Tucci. From this charming little window, they serve Italian wine, espresso, gelato, panini, pasta, and more,  all with a nod to Italian tradition. Watch the opening via Cititour’s reel below. The link to the official website is in the title.

The Tribe Sky Beach Club is open daily from 11 AM until after midnight and serves cocktails, among other things.

Inspiration for beach clubs | Low Tide Golf Game

A few weeks ago, we hosted our own ‘Indoor Office Golf Tournament’ and now we discovered the Low Tide Golf Game. A fun game idea to offer at your beach club! Check out the Low Tide Golf Game website via the link in the title.

#DogPerrignon | A fun little gesture of hospitality for four-legged guests

VIP treatment for your guests’ furry friends. A great example comes from SiSo Beach Mallorca, where they serve water for dogs out of a Don Perrignon bottle! Just a playful, feel-good gimmick that brings a smile. Link to their website is in the title.

CuliQuiz launches national Top 100 for Dutch hospitality heroes

The CuliQuiz Top 100 is a nationwide audience award created for and by the Dutch hospitality industry. The initiative was developed by CuliQuiz in collaboration with Week van de Horeca (Dutch Hospitality Week). Anyone working in hospitality — from trainees to managers — can be nominated. Since June 16, 2025, everyone has been able to nominate their personal hospitality hero via a short form on the website, including a brief motivation. Nominations close on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

All nominations will be reviewed by an independent panel of experts made up of professionals from education, hospitality, and foodservice. This panel will select the 100 driving forces behind the industry and will also present three thematic awards:

Education Award – for those who excel in mentoring and training (young) professionals

Pioneer Award – for individuals who consistently inspire movement within people, teams, or initiatives

Motivation Award – a public prize for the most inspiring submission

The winners of these categories will be announced on September 22 during a festive ceremony at Gastvrij Rotterdam, marking the official start of Dutch Hospitality Week 2025. More details via the link in the title.

Hospitality Pact launches ‘Discover Hospitality’

Under the banner of the Hospitality Pact, industry associations, businesses, educational institutions, and trade unions in the Netherlands gathered at the Heineken Experience in Amsterdam. The central mission was clear: to recruit and retain talent for the hospitality sector. After all, without people, there is no hospitality.

The Hospitality Pact is a broad collaboration aimed at creating a sustainable and attractive future for the hospitality industry. During the event, the importance of a united approach was strongly emphasized. An inspiring program featuring speakers and industry specialists highlighted both the challenges and opportunities facing the sector. The event also marked the official launch of the new platform Ontdek Hospitality – Discover Hospitality — the central hub of a national digital campaign designed to inspire young adults to pursue a career in hospitality. We spot fun and inspiring new concepts every day. This week: Pizza bar Rosso in Amsterdam on the Zuidas, wine bar De 3 Wijntjes in Roosendaal, and Bagels & Beans in the Schunck building in Heerlen.

On George Gershwinlaan, the refined Pizza bar Rosso recently opened its doors. From lunch onwards, you can enjoy dishes like the ‘Pan Rosso’, Sicilian red prawns, a classic Italian aperitivo with an aged Negroni, and of course, unique pizzas. The concept is the first venture by new hospitality group The Ugly Duckling. In Roosendaal, wine bar De 3 Wijntjes opened in the former café De 3 Weesgegroetjes – known locally as “the 3Ws.” Every Friday and Saturday, owners Rick and Sebastiaan welcome guests for wines by the glass paired with refined bar bites. And in Heerlen, the Bagels & Beans location on the Bongerd in the Schunck building has a new owner: Jasper! What once started with a hot chocolate as a guest, has now turned into a new chapter as the official bagel boss.

We wish these entrepreneurs and their teams lots of fun and success with their concepts.

Pizza bar Rosso Amsterdam | Your neighbourhood pizzabar inspired by the conviviality of Italy

Pizza bar Rosso, a vibrant Italian pizzeria and all-day dining spot, has opened in Amsterdam’s Zuidas, offering an authentic and refined experience for lunch, aperitivo, and dinner. Located on George Gershwinlaan near Station Zuid, Rosso caters to professionals, locals, and food lovers with its warm hospitality and ingredient-driven cuisine.

As the first concept by The Ugly Duckling Group, Rosso blends international hospitality expertise with a deep respect for Italian culinary tradition. The menu highlights organic, seasonal ingredients from small Italian producers. Signature dishes include pizza made from a unique blend of heritage grains, and specialties like “Pan Rosso” sandwiches and Sicilian red shrimp carpaccio.

Rosso is also a destination for aperitivo, serving crafted cocktails like aged Negronis and Rinomato spritzes, paired with complimentary bites. The curated wine list showcases lesser-known Italian vineyards.

The interior combines natural textures, soft curves, and warm tones to create a relaxed yet elegant setting—ideal for quick espressos, team lunches, or evening drinks on the terrace. Rosso aims to be more than just a restaurant: it’s a space where food fosters connection, community, and shared stories, embodying The Ugly Duckling Group’s mission of quality, authenticity, and togetherness.

Introducing The Ugly Duckling Group | Rosso marks the debut of The Ugly Duckling Group, founded by entrepreneur Cathy Luo and her partners, who bring extensive experience from high-end hospitality ventures in Hong Kong and across Asia. With a global perspective and a passion for authenticity, the group is dedicated to curating thoughtful, quality-driven dining concepts that resonate deeply with everyone’s inner foodie. Rosso is open Monday to Saturday from 11:30 to 22:00. Link to their website in the title.

Wine Bar De 3 Wijntjes in Roosendaal | Where Wine Meets Wisdom

In the former café De 3 Weesgegroetjes (a little hail Mary), locally known as “the 3Ws”, a new wine concept has opened: De 3 Wijntjes (the 3 small wines). The name is a playful nod to the past, while the experience is refreshingly contemporary. Owners Rick and Sebastiaan envisioned a space where wine takes centre stage and even premium bottles like Barolo or Châteauneuf-du-Pape are served by the glass. For them, wine is about tasting and storytelling. The wine bar will be in place for six months in collaboration with ‘Over De Tong’.

Rick and Sebastiaan have been friends for over 20 years and share a deep love of wine. With backgrounds in hospitality and several wine certifications, they felt their hometown Roosendaal lacked a relaxed spot for quality wines. That gap is now filled, on Friday and Saturday, at Theater De Kring, which uses the old café as an intimate stage for cabaret and live music during the week.

At wine bar De 3 Wijntjes, it’s all about personal interaction, surprising wine-food pairings, and the stories behind the winemakers. The refined small bites are often supplied by purveyors who also serve Michelin-starred restaurants. The number “3” plays a recurring role: three wines, three bites, three kinds of olives—but of course, guests are welcome to order more.

Expect high-quality wines in a welcoming, down-to-earth setting with a quirky twist: royal family portraits, religious icons, and a grand staircase where live performances come to life. For a taste of the atmosphere, check out the impressions below or click the link in the title.

From guest to bagel boss | A new chapter for Bagels & Beans in Heerlen’s Schunck building

At exactly 11:11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, a special moment took place in the heart of Heerlen. Bagel boss Esther officially handed over her Bagels & Beans location on the Bongerd to the new bagel boss, Jasper. Esther opened the cozy café in March 2012 inside the cultural landmark SCHUNCK, where she spent the past thirteen years building a warm and trusted haven for lovers of bagels, coffee, and good vibes. Now, the time has come for a new chapter. With confidence and a smile, Esther passes the “bagel baton” to Jasper.

For Jasper, the takeover is especially meaningful—not only because he’s now officially a bagel boss, but because his connection to Bagels & Beans started right here as a guest. “It all started with a hot chocolate on a cold day, and before we knew it, we were there every weekend,” he shares. “The vibe, the music, the people—everything just felt right.”

What Jasper is most looking forward to is working in this unique location every day. “The Schunck building is a vibrant blend of art, music, and literature—such a great fit for Bagels & Beans.” While the familiar atmosphere will remain for now, a post-summer renovation is planned: new furniture, flooring, a fresh coat of paint, and a revamped bagel home. “It will be the same beloved place—just with a new look.” We wrote about Bagels & Beans before!

Examples by Los Cabos Tourism Board and the Mandarin Oriental

A great example comes from the Los Cabos Tourism Board, which is using this global occasion to spotlight the wide variety of transformative wellness experiences available in the region.

This year’s theme, #ReconnectMagenta, is at the heart of Global Wellness Day 2025. It symbolizes a journey of reconnection—with nature, ourselves, our loved ones, communities, and the often overlooked aspects of wellbeing. The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group embraces this theme beautifully, offering wellness experiences focused on nature, inner reflection, and authentic rituals grounded in traditional healing practices.

Los Cabos celebrates Global Wellness Day with transformative experiences

In celebration of Global Wellness Day, the Los Cabos Tourism Board highlights the region’s growing reputation as a leading wellness destination. With offerings rooted in natural beauty and ancestral traditions, Los Cabos invites travellers to experience healing therapies that nourish body, mind, and spirit.

Wellness tourism is booming globally. According recent data from the Global Wellness Institute — wellness tourism is worth $651 billion and growing 16.6% annually—and Los Cabos is rising to meet the demand. Visitors seeking wellness experiences here report a 91% satisfaction rate and spend around $3,000 per trip. Wellness experiences range from volcanic stone massages at Nobu Los Cabos and cacao ceremonies at The Cape and Waldorf Astoria Pedregal, to ancestral Temazcal rituals at One & Only Palmilla. Guests can also enjoy thalassotherapy at The Club at Solaz, yoga retreats at Drift Hotel, and breathwork sessions during Eforea Wellness Day at Hilton Los Cabos.

The Los Cabos region seamlessly blends luxury with authenticity, offering accessible and sustainable options while preserving local healing traditions. With over 900 new hotel rooms set to open by 2027 and a strong commitment to eco-conscious wellness, the destination continues to redefine intentional travel.

Mandarin Oriental celebrates Global Wellness Day 2025 with reconnection-focused experiences

This Global Wellness Day (GWD), Mandarin Oriental’s global Spa & Wellness locations will honour the theme #ReconnectMagenta, emphasizing reconnection with nature, self, loved ones, community, and longevity. The brand offers complimentary wellness experiences inspired by Oriental philosophy and authentic rituals to support holistic wellbeing.

Guests can expect unique offerings across five dimensions: outdoor meditation and barefoot rituals for reconnecting with nature; journaling and silent tea ceremonies for self-reflection; family yoga and shared treatments to strengthen bonds; local workshops supporting community engagement; and longevity-focused practices like energy therapies and traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic treatments.

Mandarin Oriental also expands its Digital Wellness Initiative, encouraging guests to unplug with screen-free activities rooted in Eastern wisdom. The initiative aims to go beyond a one-day celebration, offering take-home rituals, expert-led content, and wellness products to support long-term wellbeing.

“Reconnection is central to our wellness philosophy,” says Jeremy McCarthy, Group Director of Spa & Wellness. Guests are invited to share their experiences using #MO_GWD25 and #GlobalWellnessDay.

We also wrote about their great wellness initiative of ‘The Art of Silence’ back in December 2024!

Bagels & Beans and Naïf bring back sunscreen summer

Starting May 27, guests on all Bagels & Beans terraces can use Naïf sunscreen free of charge. The initiative – launched on National Sunscreen Day – shows once again how Bagels & Beans is “smeerverliefd” (completely in love) with its guests. With Naïf’s natural sun protection, visitors can enjoy the sunshine, coffee, and bagels without any worries.

This summer, Bagels & Beans is also encouraging guests to step outside their “ComfortZON(e)”. Between June 2 and July 6, guests who take on small summer challenges – like trying something new or sitting in a different spot – can collect stamps and earn free coffee. Apply sunscreen, unwind and explore: that’s what summer at Bagels & Beans feels like.

Le Provençal Partners with Hôtel Belles Rives for 5-Star Living on the French Riviera

Luxury developer Caudwell has teamed up with Hôtel Belles Rives to provide concierge and lifestyle services at Le Provençal, a £300M+ residential development in Cap d’Antibes. Cap d’Antibes is located adjacent to Hôtel Belles Rives on Boulevard Edouard Baudoin. Residents will enjoy valet parking, spa access, and priority reservations at the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant, famed cocktail bar and private beach club.

Set to complete in summer 2025, the restored 1920s landmark will offer 41 luxury homes, panoramic views, a cinema, wellness spa, and six acres of gardens—blending historic glamour with modern Riviera living.

Brewed together, enjoyed together: Aalten celebrates summer with ‘De Witte Linde’

On Ascension Day, Aalten introduced a refreshing new white beer: De Witte Linde, the result of a collaboration between eight local hospitality venues and Brouwerij Wentersch from Winterswijk. With notes of citrus and elderflower, this summer beer is an ode to the Achterhoek region and is now on tap at several venues including Het Noorden, Olde Marckt, and Suzie’s Farm. De Witte Linde symbolizes local collaboration, hospitality, and the joy of the good life.

Shake it like Nolet Copper Club: immersive cocktail experience opens in Schiedam

Starting June 12, guests can step into the world of the Nolet Distillery at the new Nolet Copper Club, located in the historic Witte Huis in Schiedam. This immersive cocktail workshop combines history with craftsmanship. Visitors begin with a behind-the-scenes look at the centuries-old family-run business before crafting three signature cocktails under the guidance of expert mixologists—all in a setting of gleaming copper and glass.

Ideal for unique outings, the Copper Club also repositions Schiedam on the map as the beating heart of Dutch distilling culture through the Dutch Distillers District. The two-hour experience is available for booking from Thursday to Saturday.

Style meets service: exclusive wardrobe for Rosewood Amsterdam

Rosewood Amsterdam has commissioned Amsterdam-based fashion company By Rockland to design an exclusive staff wardrobe. For this, By Rockland teamed up with top designers Claes Iversen and Francisco van Benthum. The result: a collection of 80 pieces across eight hotel departments, combining elegance, comfort, and functionality. Each outfit reflects the hotel’s refined identity, using high-quality fabrics, subtle color accents, and practical layers tailored to the Dutch climate.

According to By Rockland, corporate fashion is increasingly becoming a key aspect of brand identity. The Rosewood Amsterdam wardrobe is a prime example: contemporary, sophisticated, and perfectly aligned with the hotel’s atmosphere and guest experience.

The Radisson Hotel Group becomes the first international hotel chain to open two ‘Verified Net Zero’ hotels, located in Oslo and Manchester. These hotels already meet international sustainability standards that are not expected to be widely implemented in the hospitality industry until 2040. Independent verification by TÜV Rheinland confirms that both properties have eliminated their direct CO₂ emissions (Scope 1 and 2) and significantly reduced indirect emissions (Scope 3) in accordance with the GHG (GreenHouse Gas) Protocol. Remaining emissions are offset through nature-based solutions, such as forest and soil restoration projects.

‘Verified Net Zero’ hotels powered by 100% renewable energy

Both hotels run entirely on renewable energy. In Manchester, heat pumps and a fully electric kitchen ensure the use of 100% green electricity. In Oslo, green electricity is combined with sustainable district heating sourced from waste-to-energy facilities and data centers. Menus have been revised in collaboration with Klimato to include seasonal ingredients and CO₂ labels, reducing their carbon footprint by up to 40%.

The Radisson Hotel Group has chosen to transform existing buildings—an important step since 80% of the buildings that need to meet 2050 climate goals are already in use today. Waste is minimized using eSmiley software, in collaboration with Too Good To Go. The hotels have eliminated single-use plastics and reduced paper usage with a digital concierge app. Nespresso capsules are recycled, and all bathroom amenities are refillable. Remaining emissions are offset via Agreena, which partners with over 2,300 European farmers to restore and preserve soil.

The Manchester location, reopened as Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre, features 252 Scandinavian-style rooms, a restaurant with a terrace, a spa, swimming pool, and meeting rooms for up to 220 guests. It’s located within walking distance of cultural landmarks such as AO Arena, Manchester Cathedral, and the National Football Museum.

In Oslo, the former Park Inn is being repositioned as Radisson RED Oslo City Centre, a ‘Verified Net Zero’ Hotel, set to open in July 2025.

According to Inge Huijbrechts, Chief Sustainability & Security Officer at the Radisson Hotel Group, these first two ‘Veriefied Net Zero’ hotels mark the beginning of a broader mission: proving that true sustainability in existing hotels is both feasible and financially viable. More details can be found in this press release.

TINO | Esto no es una pizza

This takeaway spot on Carrer de Còrsega 225 in Barcelona is serving up bite-sized flavour bombs somewhere between a pizza and an empanada. They’re called Tino’s — from TINO: Esto no es una pizza (TINO – This Is Not a Pizza). We spotted them in a reel by Nora — Italiana a Barcellona. It reminded us a bit of the pizza fritta served by FRIT’ZZA in Utrecht, although the Tino doesn’t appear to be fried!

Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls growing European presence

After making its European debut last year in Milan, Italy, Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls is planning to roll out 100 locations over the next eight years across Italy, Switzerland, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

The European expansion is in partnership with Pietro Funaro, an Italian investment banker and businessman, who visited Mason’s in Annapolis two years ago. One year later, he opened the first European location in Milan. Like Mason’s locations in the United States, the European restaurants offer customers a taste of New England, serving sustainably sourced lobster from Maine with rolls in both classic Maine and Connecticut styles.

European locations will also feature unique menu items, including an avocado roll and a spicy diavolo roll. Good news for lobster roll lovers in Europe! More details can be found in the article on Fast Casual (link in the title).

Dante Takes Claridge’s | Dante NYC travels to Claridge’s Restaurant for month-long residency

This summer, New York’s acclaimed aperitivo bar and restaurant Dante, is heading to London for a month-long residency at Claridge’s Restaurant, starting Monday 30th June. Known for its award-winning cocktails and old-school hospitality, Dante will bring the vibrant energy of downtown Manhattan to Mayfair with its signature drinks and nostalgic New York-inspired dishes.

Founders Linden Pride and Nathalie Hudson will lead the pop-up, introducing a daily ‘Aperitivo Hour’ and theatrical flair to Claridge’s bar. The cocktail menu will feature favourites like The Garibaldi, Dante Martini, Negroni Bianco, and a Chocolate Negroni fountain.

The food menu celebrates classic American dishes, including seafood towers, shrimp cocktail, New York strip steak, and Dante’s signature burger. On weekends, guests can enjoy a New York-style brunch with buttermilk pancakes, banana bread with ricotta, and huevos rancheros. Dante Takes Claridge’s will run from Monday 30th June until Thursday 31st July 2025 in Claridge’s Restaurant and is available to book here. More details in the link in the title.

White Castle welcomes 14 fans into their ‘Cravers Hall of Fame’

Great idea to put your fans in the spotlight. A wall with images of famous guests is kind of normal but we don’t often spot a ‘Hall of Fame’ with regular guests!

White Castle has inducted 14 devoted fans into its Cravers Hall of Fame, now totalling 284 honourees since 2001. This year’s inductees include a woman who biked 36 miles for Sliders and friends hosting an annual eating contest since 1967. The ceremony celebrates unique, heartfelt stories from fans deeply connected to the brand. Inductees receive travel, lodging, a plaque, and a feature on Slider box packaging. Notable past members include Alice Cooper and Stan Lee, most members are non-famous fans. More details in their press release, link in the title.

Recently, Mr. Charlie’s TMS (Told Me So), the globally inventive plant-based fast-food brand with a mission-driven ethos, announced its largest expansion to date: a multimillion-dollar development agreement to open 18 locations across Arizona, in partnership with Exclusive Area Developer Patrick Lam. This marks a major milestone in the brand’s nationwide franchise rollout and brings its crave-worthy, feel-good menu to the Southwest for the first time.

Mr. Charlie’s TMS is leading a revolution in plant-based cuisine, proving that fast food can be ethical, joyful, purposeful — and still taste amazing.
